& Game Review |
| Vivid
descriptions of each area and encounters are planned rather
than random. The NPCs are not just stereotypes. However,
seems to be out to get the PC. |
In
the province of Ling, Lord Yu has a definite problem: his
mother. She's arrogant, confident in her status, and undercuts
his authority by controlling the city guards. However,
There are more important things to worry about. |
Huge
animals have begun to appear within the town borders. A
huge pigeon named Oscar was befriended by the local druid,
a six-foot weasel was found in a hen house, and more were
appearing every day. Also a nauseating odor was reaching
out from the drainage system. |
The city
guards, in Lady Yu's pay are too incompetent to really find
out what is going on. Enter the party who are offered a reward
to find out what is going on and a chance to be involved
in the strangest circumstances they could find. |
The Jade
Magi Sewer Crawl is a d20 System adventure suitable for characters
of 4th-6th level. It is obvious to me that MonkeyGod Enterprises
has modules that are very intriguing. In the introduction
to the Jade Magi Sewer Crawl they mention something about
dungeon crawls that I always had a problem with. Why are
encounters in the different rooms completely random. They
wanted to make sure that encounters were well planned and
logical. Well, they deliver. |
| Conclusion |
This
module is very cohesive and tells a full story. Aside from
a tendency to find things to plague the PC with, I like
what I see. The module is enjoyable and there are enough
individualities between the encounters that it rises above
your normal 'hack and slash' dungeon crawl. The Jade Magi
Sewer Crawl will be a good addition to your gaming library.
I can heartily recommend this module to those looking for
a "different" adventure. Actually, that is what
appeals to me.
